Is this book still in the Guiness book of world records as the most published something-or-other?
I used to have great pride showing this fact to schoolfriends back in the early 80's.
does anyone remember "the truth that leads to everlasting life" book?
it was blue, and was intended as a six month home study book.
i think it came out in 1974at an assembly with much fanfare and gasping!.

hi guys, new!
and i'm sure this has been covered, but i find the site has no search for me to look, so sorry if you've discussed it to death.
for the first time last night i came across information about 586 being the actual year jerusalem was destroyed.
Scholar is usually under the influence of 'spirits' - vodka, gin, whiskey....
hey guys,.
i was reading popular science and i staggered across a line that suggested that russia had never landed men on the moon.
that struck me as blatantly false, i knew i'd seen footage of cosmonauts on the moon.
The BBC has just shown a 'docu-drama' called Space Race which was all about the battle between the US and the Soviets to get to the moon first. The DVD is out at the end of November and I'd recommend it to anyone interested in how the US did it.
One reason the US won was that a Soviet test rocket blew up on the launchpad killing many of the technical staff and department heads involved in the Soviet space programme. This fact was withheld from the public for decades.
in another thread i started someone askedi still believe in jehovah, but now, i'm having doubts about his name???
is jehovah really god's name?
if he wanted his name to be known, he's all-powerful, omnipotent... i know that he has the power to make sure that his name is used correctly.
From what I've read (Mark Smith, Friedman etc) it seems El was the original god of the patriarchs and was a personal name.
Exodus 6:3 shows that the name Yahweh began to be associated with the older names of 'El Shaddai' and El Elyon'. And the Septuaguint and 4QDeut Dead Sea Scroll reading of Deutoronomy 32 shows that Yahweh was a son of the god El who received Israel as his inheritance.
I think I prefer this though:
The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao.
The name that can be named is not the eternal name.
The nameless is the beginning of heaven and earth.

browsing the internet, i found this interpretation of the
a "european union" (see images to the right).
it amazes me that people can't *see* what is right in front
All of today's governments have a share in ruling the world, which is really quite a contrast to the ways of the past when a single government (like Babylon) or a pair of governments (like Medo-Persia) exercised World Rule
How do you come to the conclusion that Babylon exercised 'World Rule'? Have you any idea how small and short-lived the Babylonian Empire was? Do you know why Nebuchadnezzar built the Median wall?
World rule has never been achieved by any Empire. I think the closest to it was the British Empire, over which it is said the sun never set. The Persian Empire lasted just over 200 years but never expanded into Europe. The Greek Empire's legacy lived on the longest with many of it's ideas taken up by the Romans. The Roman Empire may have ruled much of Europe and North Africa, but never expanded further east than Palestine. They certainly never conquered the Parthians in Syria or the Germanic tribes north of the Danube.
These Empires had little or no influence in India, China, Central Asia or the Americas.
The image is describing nations or powers that had influence over Judea and Jerusalem rather than any imaginary 'world rule'.
for old geezers such as myself, the james bond film was an annual event appearing around christmas time.
sean connery was the embodiment of the character onscreen with just enough seriousness to deflect the outrageousness of the plot.
but, what really sold the series to me personally was the music.
Love John barry's music.
He wrote the best ever TV theme tune - The Persuaders. Pity the show didn't live up to the titles.
The music in 'You Only Live Twice' as one spaceship gets swallowed by another is fantastic.
From what I remember for some reason he didn't write the music for 'For Your Eyes Only', and the soundtrack ended up like a cheap 80's TV movie.
some left because they couldn't follow the pace.
some left because they knew they were living a double life.. some left because they rathered live a life of sin.. and some left because they considered it a cult.. i stopped going because i was unable to keep up with all their demands and expectations, and i found them too controling.
also because they cover their past and give false hope for the near future.. why did you leave?.
I realised the bible was mostly myth and legend, so that ruled out the JWs or any other bible-based religion.
just wanted to pop in and say hi.. i'm from the uk and have made quite a few ex jw friends.
we have met up a few times, and it's great to be with others who understand (my sense of humour lol!).
i have been df for 14 years, and in the process became the black sheep of the family ( a familiar story).
Welcome Doffy!
Another ex-JW from the North West here! I left in '91 too.
this is a very important observation, that the watchtower has not tried to explain in print why 607 bce is the year for the destruction of jerusalem for the last 17 years!!!.
all that the watchtower has done over most of the last two decades is to repeat over and over the year "607bce" in its publications as if it is an unquestioned fact!.
the last time an explaination for the year was attempted by the watchtower was in 1988 when the "insight" volumes were published, but since then, no explaination for the validity of the year has appeared in print.. this must mean something, but what?
I love repeating the same expressions
You're not kidding!

This way of posting is a little-known Mormon technique of brainwashing the reader into joining the LDS.
It won't work on me though.
Anyway, I'll be back soon. I have a sudden urge to play some Osmond's CDs and find a second wife!
